THE BODYWEIGHT GOOD MORNING STRENGTHENS THE HAMSTRINGS AND LOWER BACK THROUGH A CONTROLLED HINGE MOVEMENT

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, hands behind your head, and knees slightly bent.

  • Hinge forward at the hips, keeping your back flat and chest lifted.

  • Lower until your torso is nearly parallel to the floor, then return to standing.

PRO TIPS:

  • Hinge first: Push your hips straight back as if someone is pulling them with a rope

  • Neutral spine: Keep ribs stacked over hips and maintain a long, flat back; no rounding as you fold.

  • Tension at end‑range: Stop your hinge where your hamstrings load and your torso stays braced

MODIFICATIONS:

  • Soft‑bend knees: Add a slight bend to reduce hamstring strain while keeping the hinge pattern intact.

  • Shorten the hinge: Limit depth to the point where tension is manageable and spine stays neutral.

  • Wall‑assist hinge: Stand a few inches from a wall and tap your hips back to learn control and reduce range.
