The human body is made up of approximately 60% of water, and because of this, drinking enough water each day keeps our body functioning properly. Dehydration, simply put, is when your body is not receiving the correct amount of hydration. Dehydration symptoms can range from mild to severe, and can, at times also be fatal.
Here are some signs and symptoms of dehydration:
Fatigue & Low Energy
Feeling Lightheaded or Dizzy
Extreme Thirst
Dry Mouth
Less Frequent Urination
Sunken Eyes
Keeping hydrated throughout the day is very important during the Summer months, especially if you’re working out, or taking a group fitness class as well as being outside in the sun. Drinking enough water helps to dictate your physical and mental input, as it regulates your body temperature, lubricates your joints, and helps to prevent muscle cramping.
Additionally, electrolytes are a great way to stay hydrated as they contain essential minerals (sodium, potassium, and magnesium) which help retain fluid, so that your body can continue to function normally. Electrolytes are also a great way to help with recovery after a workout, and can help reduce muscle cramping.
